Life Care Center of North Glendale, Arizona, runs fundraisers throughout the year to help associates in need.
Before school starts, Ester Gulliford, nursing case manager, coordinates an event specifically for associates with school-age children. She gathers supply lists from several surrounding schools and goes out to purchase these supplies, as well as backpacks, with money from management fundraisers leading up to the school year. This year, Bonnie John, rehab tech, and Kate Burt, occupational therapist assistant, helped her shop for the supplies.
The ladies distributed 65 backpacks filled with pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks, folders, glue sticks and other supplies on July 27. Parents could pick up the backpacks after their shifts.
The facility has held this fundraiser for more than 15 years, with Gulliford heading the program for the last five years.
